Gold is a competitive program that begins in September and runs until June/July. Swimmers train 8 times per week and can attend approximately twelve meets per season. Head Coach Meredith Thompson-Edwards implements the program and focuses on developing endurance, strength, speed and technique. Swimmers are introduced to harder training sets in order to prepare them for competition, promote pushing beyond the comfort zone and recognize how dedication and commitment can enhance a swimmers’ performance. Swimmers also have weight training as part of the program and various dryland/cross training workouts. Quality over quantity is the focus of the program with the ultimate goal for all swimmers being to continue swimming during post-secondary education. We take pride with the fact that our swimmers are not “burnt out” when they leave our club and have great success with Varsity swimming.
Swimmers must commit to a full swimming season.
Practice times: Mon 5:50-7:30 am, Tues 6:15-7:15 am dryland & 3:20-4:30 pm pool + flexibility 4:30-5 pm, Wed 5:50-7:30 am & 3:20-5:00 pm, Thurs 3:20-4:30 pm, Fri 5:50-7:30 am *dryland first then pool & 3:20-5:00 pm
