Senior Novice
The Senior Novice program is where swimmers truly step into the world of competitive swimming. Running from September through June, this program requires a full-season commitment and prepares athletes for the demands of structured training and racing.
Swimmers in this group swim 4 times weekly, supported by 1 dryland practice.
Senior Novice swimmers are recommended to attend a minimum of 5 meets per year (3 Devo Meets + 2 others), giving them valuable competition experience.
The focus remains on proper technique first, before speed, ensuring that swimmers build a strong technical foundation while gradually increasing their endurance and intensity.
In addition to pool training, Senior Novice swimmers are introduced to dryland exercises to support strength, coordination, and athletic development. They also learn how to follow written sets on the board and are encouraged to push past their comfort zones—key steps in becoming a competitive athlete.
The Senior Novice group balances technical mastery with an introduction to competitive training habits, giving swimmers the skills, confidence, and mindset to succeed at the next level of their swimming journey.
