Code of Conduct
Creating a safe, positive and respectful environment for every member of the swimming community.
The Swim Ontario Code of Conduct applies to all Swim Ontario members, including coaches, swimmers, officials and parents.
Our Expectations
Respect on deck and beyond
The purpose of the Code of Conduct is to ensure a safe and positive environment for everyone involved in swimming.
All individuals are expected to conduct themselves at all times in a manner consistent with the values of fairness, integrity, open communication and mutual respect.
Making a Complaint
Remember the 4 W's
Any complaint should contain relevant and specific information based on the following:
- Who did it — the name of the person or organization alleged to have committed the breach.
- What did they do — specific details of what happened and, if possible, the section of the Code that was breached.
- When did they do it — the date and time, or an approximate date and time.
- Where did it happen — for example, at the pool, on deck, in a gym, at a swim meet or online.
Immediate Safety
What if an incident may be criminal or involves an injury?
- If the actions may be considered criminal or someone is in immediate danger, call the police.
- Take whatever action is necessary to make sure people are safe and ensure that any injuries receive appropriate treatment.
- Report the matter to Swim Ontario.

Protecting Our Use of City Facilities
Our conduct affects the entire club.
The City of Orillia's Acceptable Behaviour Policy states:
“Three incidents in the same calendar year, involving members from the same organization will result in a global ban of any bookings from that same organization within any City of Orillia facility for a determined period of time.”
It is important for every Channel Cats member and family to understand that individual conduct can affect the future of the entire club. The opportunity to use City of Orillia facilities is a privilege, and everyone representing the Channel Cats has a role in protecting that relationship.
