About Us
The Channel Cats are a competitive swim club based out of Orillia, Ontario who train and compete as an affiliated member of Swim Ontario. We offer competitive swim coaching to swimmers of all levels, from those who are new to the sport, learning the basics of competitive swimming; right through to those who are high-performance athletes, and may be competing regionally, provincially or nationally. Orillia Channel Cats swimmers have historically gone on to become Provincial and National Age Group Champions!
Orillia Channel Cats consists of non-competitive swimmers in Channel Kittens; precompetitive swimmers in Junior Novice; and competitive swimmers in Sr. Novice, Bronze, Silver, and Gold. From the stage of learning the fundamentals of the sport through to the high-performance stage of competitive swimming, Cats swimming is a program for youth swimmers of all skill levels.
It is our mission to provide a program that fosters excellence in swimming while developing confident, resilient, and well-rounded athletes. Through swimmers' participation in the sport, we aim to instill a strong work ethic, a sense of team belonging, commitment, integrity, self-discipline, and life skills that extend far beyond the pool.
Cats Swimming is proud of the positive club culture built over decades by coaches who believe that every swimmer brings value to the team. Our goals-based approach helps swimmers set meaningful, individualized goals that align with their abilities and potential, while providing the coaching and support needed to achieve them. We offer an environment that encourages athletes to support one another, celebrate personal growth, and recognize every accomplishment, whether big or small.
Orillia Channel Cats is a non-profit organization, which elects a volunteer parent Board of Directors to direct the financial and administrative side of the club. The Board is responsible for employing coaches who direct the technical side of the clubs' activities.
