Six members of the Orillia Channel Cats Swim Club recently competed at the Provincial Festival Championships for 13 and under qualifiers. The meet was held in London at the Canada Games Centre, where close to 80 clubs from across Ontario were in attendance. “We had 6 swimmers qualify, which is up from the Winter Festivals where we had 2 swimmers qualify.” Says coach Elaine Thompson. Caleb Near (12) broke the boys 11/12 short course club record in the 100 butterfly (1:16.38) and placed 5th in the boys 12 year old 100 backstroke (1:10.97). Hayley French (10) swam all personal bests and placed 7th overall in the 100 butterfly as well as the 50 butterfly. “I was impressed with our swimmers, Caleb dropped 5 seconds in the 100 backstroke and Hayley took off a whopping 15.31 seconds in her 100 butterfly.” Adds Thompson. Owen Rosati swam 4 out of 4 personal bests as well, placing 16th in the 12 year old 100 backstroke. Chloe Smith (12) placed 18th in the 100 butterfly and was just .86 seconds off her personal best. Blythe Wieclawek (10) and Megan Widmer (13) were close to personal bests in all four of their individual events and both contributed to the 12/13 year old girls relay team with French and Smith.
This year we are asking all swim families to find sponsors. For every sponsor you get, you will receive a $100 credit into your family account which can be used towards swim meets or other swim expenses other than registration.
I have attached the 2015-2016 Sponsor Drive Letter for you to print off. Please email firstname.lastname@example.org with the names of the business you are approaching to sponsor. All sponsorship information and payment needs to be handed into me no later than August 28th, 2015 so we can start our sponsorship commitments at the beginning of the swim season.
all questions regarding sponsorship can be sent to email@example.com
Thank you and have a great summer
Orillia Channel Cats Fundraising Director.
We have 20 swimmers registered for try outs June 15 and 17. We will not be able to take anymore swimmers this round. If we have space after Try outs, we will consider hosting another round in September.
